* If you are building a yard and you have multible turnouts hooked together and you want them all connected together in a straight line.
* Starting your first peice of straight track coming off a turnout.
* Starting your first peice of curved track coming off a turnout.
* Connecting turnouts back to back or front to back.
* Connecting two peices of straight track together.
* VERY useful with staring your first peice of track off a turnout and then running parallel track. Getting the first peice of track set right will make the rest of the job alot easier.
* It also makes your layout look alot nicer if your turnouts in the yards are lined up straight!
The purpose of this tool is two keep two peices of track straight when your are nailing or gluing your track down, you can not rely on the ends of the rail to be of equal length.
